Computational fluid dynamics refers to the systematic application of computing systems and computational solution techniques to mathematical models formulated to describe and simulate fluid dynamic phenomena.

Center for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Dr. Lohner is a distinguished Professor, Fluid Dynamics and also Director of the
Center for Computational Fluid Dynamics, housed in the College of Science.

The CFD at Mason has expertise in the development and application of image processing techniques, grid generation algorithms, field solvers for compressible and incompressible flows, electromagnetics, acoustics, heat and mass transfer, as well as distributed visualization.
