Assistant Professor of Dance
Joyce is an assistant professor of Dance in the College of Visual and Performing Arts and has performed more than 30 works created by Mark Morris, including concert dance pieces, operas and film projects. He was a member of the Mark Morris Dance Company for ten years.
He can discuss various techniques of modern dance including skills needed to appreciate modern dance through aesthetics and creativity. He can also discuss 20th century dance history and current trends in professional dance performance.
Joyce has taught at numerous regional American College Dance Festival events and has been an instructor for the National Festival held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for three consecutive seasons. He has also worked with the Maida Withers Dance Construction Company in Moscow on an international collaboration of Russian and American artists performed at Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
