Assistant Professor of Sport Management
While pursuing a law degree at Georgetown University Esherick became a graduate assistant basketball coach for two years. After graduating from law school and passing the DC Bar, Esherick became a full-time assistant coach at Georgetown for the men’s basketball team. His tenure as an assistant lasted 17 and a half years and included a stint as the assistant basketball coach for the USA Olympic team that participated in the ’88 Seoul Olympics. He became the head basketball coach at Georgetown University and held that position long enough to win 103 games.Esherick will continue to write about sports and basketball as well as serving as a color commentator for college basketball games and being heavily involved with the newly created Center for Sport Management. Professor Esherick is still a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the DC Bar and the Association for TV and Radio Artists.
